the year out

I work part time in the best toy shop ever.
I do two A-Levels - Philosophy and English - from home.
Best of all, I'm part of Youth For Christ's gap year program, 'The Year Out', and alongside that I have a Youth Placement with St Paul's Church.

Youth For Christ is an organisation that is all about seeing Young People's lives changed by Jesus. They show Jesus in a way that is relevant to every young person in Britain, in places like schools, prisons, churches and local communities, using sports, the arts and so much more. They demonstrate the love of God, declare who Jesus is, encourage a decision to follow Him, and disciple young people to live their lives to the full. This can be though their touring teams, in local centres, through resources, online! I'm so honoured and privileged to be a part of Youth For Christ.

The Year Out is probably the best decision I've ever made... obviously not alone; I had God going before me!
The Year Out has given me incredible relationships with people on my year. It's only January, and already I have danced, laughed, cried, worshipped and become vulnerable with them. I've gone to gigs, stayed up until 3am chatting with them, we've adventured together and we've grown.
The Year Out has given me helpful, invaluable resources, such as mentors, Bible In One Year, seminars and 'Keys To Freedom'.
The Year Out has given me opportunity. I'm on 'homegrown', so I can still earn money, I can still study, and I can do Youth Work in my home city. So far on placement, I've been part of a city-wide mission event, I've been involved in the planning and soon-to-be leadership of a new Youth Cafe. I've done school's work with girls on the brink of isolation, where we've chatted about identity, beliefs, confidence and conflict. I've created videos, I've met some really great young people and I've taken a lead with Life Group.
